A brief history of AERO®
1935
1935 saw the launch of Rowntree’s “new chocolate”, AERO, aerated milk chocolate in a milk chocolate shell.
1950
Production of AERO was stopped for almost a decade due to WW2 milk shortages, but began again in 1950.
1955
AERO first featured on TV in 1955, with the caption “The milk chocolate that’s different”.
1959
AERO Peppermint was launched in 1959, initially just in the Midlands, before being rolled out across the country later in the year.
1960
AERO saw the launch of AERO Orange to Aero’s range.
2005
2005 saw another format launch for the brand, with the introduction of AERO Peppermint Bubbles.
2009
The Nestlé Cocoa Plan was launched. AERO is part of the Nestlé Cocoa Plan, which works with UTZ to ensure a better future for cocoa farmers and even better chocolate for you.
2015
Nestlé achieves 100% sustainable cocoa supply in the UK and Ireland.
Today
Today, AERO remains the original bubbly chocolate bar, with over 4 million bubbly bubbles made every day in the UK. In fact, our products are enjoyed by over 8 million people every year!
